FWIW -- My opinion
I personally believe, and become very frustrated with how the media "adds to" and plays on the drama and insecurities that average person has about current events, news stories, the economy, and health concerns. The media seldom clarifies and reassures the needs of the people... Very frustrating. But at the same time, I know this is just my opinion, as I am a loyal news watcher and reader of news magazines.

Yep--we're all going to die of swine flu any minute now. Kinda like we were all going to fall victims to bird flu and before that SARS.
Of course my making a big deal about this ensures that I will get it! Irony is a harsh mistress!
